VetAid is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. All AI-generated content is informational only and should be reviewed by a qualified attorney or accredited Veterans Service Organization (VSO) representative before submission to the VA.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using VetAid ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Nature of the Service

VetAid is an AI-powered claims analysis tool that helps veterans understand their VA disability claims. The Service:

  • Analyzes uploaded documents (C&P exams, decision letters, medical records, DD-214s)
  • Identifies potential errors, contradictions, and missed opportunities in VA decisions
  • Generates template documents (21-4138 statements, nexus letter templates, buddy statement frameworks)
  • Provides statistical analysis from Board of Veterans Appeals decisions

3. Not Legal or Medical Advice

All AI-generated analysis, documents, and recommendations are templates and informational summaries only. They do not constitute legal advice, medical advice, or a guarantee of any outcome.

You should:

  • Have all generated documents reviewed by a qualified professional before filing
  • Not rely solely on VetAid's analysis for claim decisions
  • Consult with an accredited VSO representative or VA-accredited attorney for legal guidance

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about your service and conditions
  • Not upload documents belonging to other veterans without their explicit consent
  • Not use the Service for fraudulent claims
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or attack the Service
  • Keep your access credentials and share links secure
Document Upload Risk. By uploading documents to VetAid, you accept full responsibility for any information you choose to share. Only upload documents you are comfortable sharing. Do not upload documents containing information you are not authorized to disclose.

5. Shared Portal Access

When you share case access with an attorney or VSO through the portal:

  • You are responsible for managing who has access to your case
  • You can revoke access at any time by deactivating the share link
  • All portal activity is logged for security
  • Recipients must agree to confidentiality obligations before accessing your data

6. Limitation of Liability

VetAid is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

  • Inaccuracies in AI-generated analysis or documents
  • Claim outcomes resulting from use of the Service
  • Loss of data due to technical failures
  • Unauthorized access resulting from user negligence
  • Any damages arising from your decision to upload sensitive personal or medical information
No system is 100% secure. VetAid implements encryption, PII redaction, and industry-standard security practices. However, we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet or stored electronically. By using the Service, you acknowledge this risk and agree that VetAid is not liable for unauthorized access that occurs despite reasonable security measures.

In no event shall VetAid's total liability exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the preceding 12 months.

7. Data Deletion

You have the right to delete all your data at any time using the "Delete My Data" feature. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. See our Privacy Policy for details.

8. Prohibited Uses

You may not use VetAid to:

  • File fraudulent VA claims
  • Impersonate another veteran
  • Scrape or harvest data from the Service
  • Redistribute AI-generated analysis commercially
  • Circumvent security measures including rate limits and PIN protections

9. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in the state of Nevada.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via the Service.

We will never sell your data. Ever. VetAid does not sell, rent, share, or monetize your personal information with any third party — no advertisers, no data brokers, no exceptions. We make money from subscriptions, not from your data.
No system is 100% secure. We handle sensitive veteran data including medical records, service records, and VA decisions with encryption and security best practices. But we believe in being honest: if major banks and financial institutions can't guarantee perfect security, we can't either. By using VetAid, you acknowledge this risk. Only upload documents you are comfortable sharing.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Military service details (branch, dates, locations, MOS)
  • Disability conditions and ratings
  • Uploaded documents (C&P exams, decision letters, medical records, DD-214s)
  • Portal messages between you and your attorney/VSO

Information We Automatically Process

  • Text extracted from uploaded documents via OCR and PDF parsing
  • AI-structured analysis of document content
  • Portal access logs (timestamps, access counts)

2. PII Redaction

Social Security Numbers are automatically stripped. Before any document text is stored in our database, we automatically detect and redact:

  • Social Security Numbers (SSN) in all formats
  • VA file numbers
  • Bank account and routing numbers

Redacted information is replaced with placeholders like [SSN REDACTED] and is never stored.

3. Data Encryption

All sensitive document data stored in our database is encrypted at rest using AES-128-CBC (Fernet) encryption. This includes:

  • Extracted document text
  • AI-structured analysis results

Portal access PINs are hashed using PBKDF2-SHA256 with 200,000 iterations and random salts. We cannot recover your PIN — only verify it.

4. AI Processing

Document text is sent to our AI engine for analysis. Important facts about this processing:

  • Our AI provider does not use API data to train models (per their data policy)
  • Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
  • Only the minimum necessary text is sent for each analysis stage
  • SSNs and other PII are stripped before text is sent to the AI

5. Data Storage

  • Case data is stored locally in an encrypted SQLite database
  • Uploaded file bytes are not permanently stored — only extracted and redacted text is kept
  • Portal share links expire after 30 days by default
  • Chat history is retained for the lifetime of the share link

6. Who Has Access

  • You — full access to your case data
  • Your authorized recipients — attorneys/VSOs you share with via portal links
  • VetAid administrators — for system maintenance and security only
  • No third parties, ever — we do not sell, rent, share, or monetize your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other party

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access all data we hold about you (visible in your case dashboard)
  • Delete all your data at any time using "Delete My Data"
  • Revoke shared access links at any time
  • Export your case data and documents

8. Data Deletion

When you delete your data:

  • Your case record is permanently deleted
  • All uploaded documents and extracted text are deleted
  • All AI analysis results are deleted
  • All portal share links are deactivated and deleted
  • All chat messages are deleted
  • This action is irreversible

9. Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users within 72 hours via the email associated with their account, and will provide details about what data was affected and steps being taken.

All analysis on VetAid is generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors. AI-generated documents must be reviewed by a qualified professional before filing with the VA.

VetAid uses advanced AI to analyze your VA claim through a 13-stage pipeline:

  • Evidence Extraction — Identifies key facts from your documents
  • Contradiction Finder — Detects inconsistencies between C&P exams and medical records
  • Ratings Analysis — Reviews current ratings against VA criteria
  • Secondary Connections — Identifies potential secondary service-connected conditions

2. Limitations of AI Analysis

You should be aware that:

  • The AI does not have access to your complete medical history unless you upload it

  • Rating criteria and VA regulations change — the AI's knowledge has a cutoff date

3. Generated Documents

Documents generated by VetAid — including 21-4138 personal statements, nexus letter templates, and buddy statement frameworks — are templates that require professional review.

Before filing any AI-generated document with the VA:

  • Have it reviewed by a VA-accredited attorney or VSO representative
  • Verify all factual claims against your actual records
  • Customize the language to accurately reflect your personal experience
  • Ensure medical opinions are signed by a qualified healthcare provider

4. Denial Intelligence

The denial intelligence feature analyzes patterns from 34,000+ Board of Veterans Appeals decisions. This analysis is statistical, not predictive:

  • Reversal/denial rates are historical averages, not odds for your case
  • Common denial reasons are patterns, not guaranteed issues you'll face
  • Legal authorities cited are real but may not apply to your specific circumstances

5. The AI Model

VetAid uses advanced AI models (various sizes depending on the analysis stage). Key facts:

  • Our AI provider does not use API inputs/outputs to train future models
  • The model has a knowledge cutoff and may not reflect the most recent VA policy changes
  • All AI processing occurs via encrypted API calls

6. Continuous Improvement

We continually work to improve the accuracy and usefulness of our AI analysis. If you notice errors or have suggestions, please let us know through the Service's feedback channels.
