Under Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E), the monthly subsistence allowance is a separate payment from any GI Bill housing allowance, and it is not automatic the moment a term begins. Before VA can release that payment, your enrollment for the new term generally has to be verified and entered into VA's payment system, either by your school's certifying official submitting enrollment information or by your VR&E counselor updating your individual plan (Form 28-1905) to reflect the new term dates, course load, and training facility.
